Our tendency towards antiquarian print media connotes no short-sighted rejection of modernity. Indeed, we sell much of our more specialist stock on ABE Books. As well as a flourishing Twitter, we possess a Facebook group and a Myspace page. Although neither of the last two are updated all that often. Molly runs Dust-covered Curios, an occasional blog with a focus on the more unusual books in our stock.

Around the Place

Independent and secondhand booksellers have flocked to Edinburgh's West Port like moths to a faintly seedy (yet oddly lovable) flame. Armchair Books alumnus William Lytle runs Edinburgh Books, the city's largest second-hand bookshop, Main Point Books does a roaring trade sitting between a strip club and a church, and a little way down the road Peter Bell maintains a haven of scholarly respectability.

In celebration of this noble heritage, the West Port Book Festival was set up in 2008. With a full programme of literary events in and around the West Port during the month of August, the Festival has featured figures as diverse as John Hegley, Owen Dudley Edwards and Ian Rankin.
